Over two full days you will handstitch your own beautiful gathered lampshade. I have lots of beautiful silk and cotton fabric but please feel free to bring your own as well and we can see if it will be suitable.

You will choose and prepare a suitable frame for this technique
Create gathers with traditional techniques
Make a balloon lining
Finish your shade with a handstitched bias edge
All materials are included.
Handstitched shades can be fiddly and hard on your hands. Please consider this if you have any issues with your hands and wrists.
YOUR IDEAS
Please feel free to discuss with me any specific ideas in advance and I can let you know if they are feasible. I am happy to advise on fabrics as well. Cotton works best but many other textiles work too but I recommend avoiding silk as it will come away from the backing over time.
